UNICEF RIGHTS RESPECTING SCHOOLS AWARD

Wey Valley Academy has secured the ‘Rights Respecting Silver’ Award from UNICEF.

Work undertaken in PSHE lessons, Student Council, Diversity Student Voice and Teaching and Learning Student Voice alongside community work has supported Wey Valley Academy in gaining the Silver ‘Rights Committed’ Award.

The Academy is now working towards the Gold ‘Rights Aware’ Award, exploring and embedding the UN Convention for the Rights of the Child into everyday student life, from lessons and curriculum to extra-curricular opportunities, social time, enrichment activities and the different student voice groups.

Please refer to the PSHE page for an example of how the United Nations Convention for the Rights of the Child have been mapped and embedded into the PSHE units of work.
